Comcare assists people with mental health or addiction issues to live well in the Canterbury community. We offer a broad range of services including social housing and mental health support services to clients in Christchurch and Canterbury.
Community Support Service
Provides support and assistance to people with mental illness living in the community. We look toward greater independence by encouraging clients to build on their strengths and develop skills and access natural supports within their community.
Community Support Services are available in North Canterbury, Christchurch City, Selwyn/Banks Peninsula and Ashburton areas.
Community Integration Service
Assists people experiencing mental illness, who have complex social or other issues that create barriers for successful community living, to problem-solve a pathway forward.
Supports people who experience mental illness to find and maintain open employment and training.
Offers a variety of supports to assist people to find, set up and maintain appropriate housing. The Service also provides urgent assistance in times of unwellness or hospital admission to ensure accommodation is secure.
Comcare is a specialist registered Community Housing Provider (CHP) through the Community Housing Regulatory Authority. Comcare specialises in housing single people, either in group situations in 2, 3 or 4 bedroomed homes, or in single bedroom flats in small complexes situated around Christchurch.
Support people who experience mental illness to improve their physical health through activity and increasing their knowledge/understanding of good nutrition. This is achieved through individualised one on one programmes and/or groups.
Comcare’s Peer Support Service
Offers both face to face and telephone support. The service also provides Intentional Peer Support training.
