ABACUS is a private training organisation delivering both contract and non-contract training, workforce development and supervision services throughout Aotearoa, New Zealand. The ABACUS team are highly qualified in a range of health specialties including psychology, nursing, social work, psychotherapy and consumer peer support. Team members have a high degree of professionalism and some have practiced in their respective fields for over 25 years, working throughout New Zealand, as well as in Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom. ABACUS respects culture and diversity, and works closely with a range of Maori, Pacific, Asian and mainstream health and social service providers. ABACUS also offers consultancy and provides training to business organisations, on Motivation and De-escalation, as well as on addiction and health-related topics and staff-related support.
ABACUS professionals have extensive experience in health and social service management, clinical and professional supervision, and counselling clients with a range of personal and addiction-related issues, including a range of associated mental health issues. In addition, the ABACUS team provides workforce development training under contract with the Ministry of Health to the problem gambling treatment sector, and alcohol and other drug training, under contract with Counties-Manukau DHB, for specialist treatment providers, health and social service staff, and the community. ABACUS also provides tailored training to services and organisations on request throughout Aotearoa, on a range of mental health and addiction-related topics (eg motivational interviewing, CBT, de-escalation of conflict and supervision), as a private training organisation.
