Ashburton Hospital

Ashburton Hospital is the centre from which a comprehensive range of Inpatient, Daypatient, Outpatient and Community based services are delivered from.

Ashburton Hospital has 74 beds and annually admits around 5000 patients, cares for 2600 Day patients and 12,000 patients attend Outpatient Appointments. The general Operating Theatre at Ashburton carries out 1500 operative procedures each year on a day and short stay basis.

Ashburton Hospital is an accredited secondary level acute medical and surgical hospital. Tertiary level care is available around one hour away at Christchurch Hospital.

There is a stable and very skilled clinical workforce in medicine, surgery and gynaecology supported by nursing and allied health professionals with extensive experience in a wide range of clinical situations. Rural Health Services employ around 550 full time and part time staff.
