Hamilton East Community House (Waimarie)

Waimarie is a Community House. Our aim is to meet the needs of the local community - Hillcrest, Hamilton East, Silverdale, Riverlea.

Waimarie community house delivers activities and programmes that enhance personal and community well being, empowerment and positive change within South East Kirikiriroa community.


  • Free Budgeting advice in association with Budgeting Advisory Trust each Tuesday 9.00am to 3.00 pm. Barry Wilcox is the budgeting advisor.
  • Free legal advice from Niemand Peebles Hoult Solicitors Hamilton each Thursday 9.00am to 10.00am.
  • Benefit and ACC advocacy services offered in association with Pukete Neighbourhood House by appointment only.
  • Short community education courses each term at Waimarie Community House.

          Our current courses for Term2 are Tai chi, Ukulele for Adult, Ukulele for Children, Sewing class, Yoga. These may vary from school term to school term. Programme available on our website

  • We run an opportunity Shop. It is staffed by volunteers and staff when necessary. We sell quality second hand books, clothing, linen, handcrafts, and many other items. 
  • Fruit & Vegetable boxes offering low-cost fruit and vegetables boxes for sale to the public. Place and pay the order before Wednesday 1pm and the boxes are ready to pickup from 10:30am on Thursday. The Fruit & vegetable boxes are packed by a group of people with mental health issues from Community living trust.
  •  A bread run available for collection by needy families on Monday and Wednesday.
  • Free computer use for job searching, CV writing and research.
  • Room Hire, media equipment hire, table and Chair Hire.
  • Photocopying and laminating service
  • Referrals to other agencies. People come for advices, information or just for a chat and share a cup of tea or coffee.
  • Community garden with a gardening morning every friday. After a very productive morning in the garden we enjoy a shared lunch.
  • Waimarie Community House offers a Sport, Cultural and music scholarship which sponsors children for one year to enable primary aged children who would not normally be able to participate in organized cultural activities, due to financial constraints, the opportunity to do so, by providing equipment and/or payment of fees.
  • Waimarie Community House offers a SEKCA Committee Scholarship to university students. Recipients receive a $600 stipend and sit on our governance committee to learn about the workings of committees and community organisations. 
  • We also have boxes outside with food, clothes, toys and similar for people to collect for free. We feed and clothe people's bodies and offer them sustenance for their minds.
