Samaritans of Wellington

Samaritans is a non-religious volunteer organisation that provides a 24hr telephone listening support service for callers who may be experiencing feelings of distress or despair, including those which lead to suicide. Our vision is for a society where fewer people take their lives by suicide.

We try to help people find their own solutions to their problems. Samaritans are not counsellors or advice-givers.

If you need someone to listen, call Samaritans.

Samaritans offer non-judgemental, confidential support to anyone who is lonely or in emotional distress. Simply call Samaritans on  (04) 473 9739 or  (0800) 726 666 (for callers from Lower North Island, Nelson, Christchurch and West Coast). We are available 24 hours a day.

Don't feel alone, our dedicated volunteers are there to help, and it’s amazing the difference having someone who listens and cares can make.
