Zonta Club of Hamilton - Waikato

Zonta International is a global organisation of women executives and professionals working together to advance the status of women worldwide through service and advocacy. Formed in 1919, Zonta is active in 68 countries of the world. Learn more about Zonta International at www.zonta.org.

Members of Zonta Clubs support women and girls in their local communities, run projects in many parts of the world that address some of the most pressing needs facing women, and advocate on women issues at all levels of society. Zonta International has a long and well respected history of partnership in conjunction with the United Nations agencies, and maintains consultative status on women issues with the UN, and Council of Europe.

In New Zealand, Zonta International has been active for more than 40 years, and has 27 clubs from Northland, to Otago. We combine service and advocacy, with fun and fellowship and welcome membership enquiries from women wishing to join us in this important work.

Our club has made donations to Endometriosis Waikato, Sophie Elliott Foundation, Fraser High School Teen Parent Unit, Dress for Success, Look Good .. Feel Better, New Horizons for Women Trust, Waikato Hospice, Westpac Air Ambulance, Cancer Society, UN Women NZ, Waikato Hospital Neo-Natal Unit, Women’s Night Shelter, Christchurch Earthquake Fund, Women’s Refuge, the Zonta International Foundation, as well as Zonta International projects overseas.

Who are we? Businesswomen and professionals working to promote the ideals of Zonta.

What is Zonta? The Zonta Club of Hamilton-Waikato is a Service Club, contributing to the local and global community since 1970.

What do we do?  Projects, meetings and activities that promote the Zonta ideals of Service, Fellowship, Networking and Personal Development for women.

You will share: Friendship, Fellowship and Networking with interesting people in other professions, be able to develop your own leadership potential and contribute to your community – locally, nationally and internationally.

Current club activities include:

Dame Silvia Cartwright Scholarship,

Sponsorship of a local applicant for the Zonta Internation Young Women in Public Affairs award programme

Maeroa Intermediate School Zonta Scholarship (for girls),

Provision of toiletries for women in emergency circumstances,

International Women’s Day breakfast, raising funds for UN Women

Zonta International Jane M Klausman Women in Business Scholarship.
