Te Ngako Comunity Mental Health and Addiction Services provide specialist assessment, intervention and support for those adults, adolescents and children who are experiencing mental illness and/or addiction issues.
The Mental Health and Addiction Service covers the whole age continuum and services the Lakes DHB region, which includes Rotorua, Taupo, Turangi, Mangakino.
The clinical services provided are;
Single Point of Entry (SPOE) for Mental Health & Addictions Service (adult)
This service takes all referrals to the Lakes District Health Board Mental Health & Addiction Services (adult). Referrals can be received via the email address or fax. People can self refer to SPOE at the Mental Health & Addiction Services building on the Rotorua Hospital site. The team offer initial assessment as required and refer to primary or secondary services.
Te Ngako Community Mental Health & Addiction Services - Rotorua and Southern Lakes
The Adult Community Mental Health & Addiction teams are based in Rotorua and Taupo covering Southern Lakes. The team includes a Perinatal team sometimes called Maternal Mental Health (pregnancy and the first year of birth) and the Lakes Opioid Treatment Service. The teams provide assessment and treatment services at home, in GP surgeries and also in a clinic setting.
Primary Mental Health Intervention Service (PRIMHIS)
The Primary Mental Health Intervention Service is a brief intervention team able to provide up to six sessions of psychological intervention for patients with any mild to moderate mental health and addiction (MH&A) concerns.
Mental Health Services for Older People (MHSOP)
This multi-disciplinary team offers assessment and treatment for people of 65 years and older living in our community with suspected severe mental illness and/or addiction – presenting in later life. We provide specialist care for people with dementia with BPSD (clinically significant behavioural and/or psychological symptoms of dementia). People under the age of 65 who experience "age related" mental health and addiction problems are also supported by the team.
Infant Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (iCAMHS)
iCAMHS have specialist services that focus on the particular needs of infants children, adolescents, and young people.
Crisis Assessment Treatment Team - (0800) 166 167
Lakes DHB's 24-hour-a-day, seven-day-a-week fully mobile Crisis Assessment Treatment Service (CATT) responds to mental health and addiction crisis in the Lakes DHB region.
